Allegany Arts Association announces the 2022 “Summer Arts for Youth” Program Schedule. Free Classes will be available for youth in our area. Class list is available on the Youth Activities Page.

Poetry Slam held on April 21st - The Allegany Arts Association held its first Joanne Allen/Adam Gayhart Memorial Poetry Slam during poetry month in the David A. Howe Library. First prize went to Daniel Fox of Belfast. Second prize was awarded to Christopher Clow or Wellsville and third prize went to Donald Neal of Bradford, Pa.

Urgent Call for Artists for Painted Chair or Table Auction - Help the Allegany Arts Association raise funds to continue its various programs by entering its Painted Chair or Table Auction. Artists can register by calling Sheila Kalkbrenner at or Kathryn Ross at 585-610-5343. If you have an old chair or table you would like to donate to this project, the AAA will accept donations of raw tables and chairs June 1 to 30 at SheilaLynnK Art Studio, 345 South Main St., Wellsville. Contact Sheila to schedule a drop off time.

DEADLINE FOR COMPLETION: AAA will accept the finished painted chairs and small tables on September 1st at the Belvidere Cornerstone. Artists should contact Susan Doran to schedule a drop-off time that day. Phone: 585-419-5620 or email: Natural tables and chairs only. No plastic.

The public will have the opportunity to bid on the completed chairs at the Silent Auction in the AAA vendor booth at the Cuba Garlic Festival.

NEW IN 2022 - Allegany Arts Association 501(c)(3) partnerships with local artists working in Allegany County NY. In alignment with our Cultural Policy of Belonging and the AAA mission to unify creators to expand local access to the arts for the wellness of our community, beginning March 2022, the Allegany Arts Association Board of Directors will accept and review for consideration timely 501(c)(3) partnership proposals from local artists offering projects which provide equitable non-profit creative and cultural services to the Allegany County community.

As a service to our community, local art instructors and creators who are current Allegany Arts Association members who have content to share are invited to send videos, tutorials, pictures, links, recordings, and other media featuring their local artsy activities to: Subject: Local Art To Share to be shared online. Content received in a timely manner will be posted in the order in which it is received. Appropriate acknowledgements will be included anytime your items are posted. Become a member

AAA Board Meeting


AAA Board meetings are now at 4:30 on first Wednesdays of the month in the Monday Club Room at David A. Howe Library. Due to fluctuating COVID guidance please call ahead to confirm the meeting will be in session.

Creators, Patrons of the Arts, and Community Members of all ages are invited to join the Allegany Arts Association and attend meetings to find out more about our mission to support and expand access to the arts in Allegany County, NY.
