As The Allegany Arts Association closes, we are happy to announce that members of the community are stepping in to continue the AAA mission to provide free accessible arts services and activities to the local residents of Allegany County.
"FREE ART FOR YOUTH"
ALLEGANY COUNTY SUMMER PROGRAMS CONTINUE IN 2023
The benefits of access to the arts for youth are many and include problem-solving abilities, creativity, literacy, fine & gross motor skills, connection & understanding, and individual wellness. Now hosted by the Angelica Free Library under the guidance of Susan Doran, former Allegany Arts Association Youth Activities Director, the popular Free Art for Youth program in Allegany County will continue to provide these free benefits to local youth.
For forty years the Allegany Arts Association provided free “Arts” classes for students in the county during academic breaks. As AAA closes, we are fortunate that the Angelica Free Library agreed to support the program so it may continue. Free Art for Youth is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
The Opening Day kick off event will be held on July 1st, 2023 at the Lavender Festival at the Park Circle in Angelica from 9am – 4 pm. Youth and parents will be able to check out all of the artistic opportunities available, make art, get information on where to sign up for future classes throughout Allegany County, and learn more about the Arts Access Pass Program. Drawing, painting, printing, book arts, music and dance are among the offerings at venues including local Libraries, parks, dance studios and at the Fountain Arts Center.
A Calendar of Events will be posted on the Angelica Free Library, Allegany Arts Association, and Belfast Organization for Artists websites and the AAA e-news, as well as posters around town and on facebook. If you are an artist interested in teaching our local youth or need more information about hosting a class please email the Free Art for Youth Activities Coordinator, Susan Doran at thebelviderecornerstone@gmail.com.
Watch for future free arts programming for local youth and adults to be provided through the on-going unified efforts of local participating host sites, libraries, the Belvidere Cornerstone, the Belfast Organization for Artists, the Arts Council for Wyoming County, the Tri-County Arts Council, the Allegany County Office for the Aging, the Allegany County Senior Foundation, the ASI; Arts Access Pass Program, and funds from local community sponsors.

The Allegany Arts Association Spring 2023 Newsletter Online version is available here.
Update form the Board meeting of February 1, 2022 - By majority vote the existing Allegany Arts Association Board of Directors has deemed it necessary to dissolve the Allegany Arts Association due to a lack of active members to take over the duties of the Board and/or to perform the organizational duties required to provide arts services to the residents of Allegany County.
Our Spring Newsletter will be going out as planned and we will be working in partnership with local individuals and organizations to honor our existing commitments to the community.
Please watch for additional announcements regarding the transfer of responsibilities and provisions for local arts services that will take place as a result of this difficult decision.
Arts Access Pass Program comes to Allegany County
The Allegany Arts Association is proud to be working with SheilaLynnK Art Studio to bring the Arts Services Inc. - ASI Arts Access Pass program to Allegany County, NY because: "Harnessing the power of our network and resources, ASI has been connecting Western New Yorkers to a wide array of arts and cultural programs and events through the Arts Access program since 2013. We believe that art is not a luxury but a necessity. The Arts Access program was created to remove the barriers that prohibit many Western New Yorkers from experiencing the arts, including cost, transportation, language, and effort.
Any individual or family who receives income based public assistance in WNY is eligible to apply. Arts Access passes can be used at any of our 45 partner locations, all of which believe that the arts belong to everyone. ASI will also provide safe and accessible transportation to and from partner events at the passholder’s request. Arts Access passholders can expect to be welcomed as we all work together to make WNY arts a more inclusive space." Find out more about the ASI Arts Access Program here: https://www.arts-access.org/
